Our story
Different boats. Same water.
FLOATR began from a personal experience with fractional living.
While Mic Valentine was working on ambitious business projects and moving frequently between meetings, collaborators and cities, he often found himself spending significant time at other people's homes while barely being home himself.
Traditional housing assumptions did not fit the reality.
A full lease or second residence could be excessive. A hotel was impersonal and expensive. Staying repeatedly with people for free did not feel right either.
Sometimes the arrangement he actually wanted was remarkably simple:
“I'll cover the light bill.”
Or:
“Let me contribute toward the rent. I'm here every Tuesday anyway.”
That experience produced the idea behind FLOATR:
What if people could formally offer — and pay for — only the housing they actually use?
FLOATR is being built around the belief that flexibility should not feel like failure. Life changes. Work moves. Relationships change. Cities change. Plans change.
We're not always in the same boat. But we're often in the same water. FLOATR gives people another way to move through it.
